Because Joomla! is a lot more powerful than WordPress, it is perhaps a smidgen less user-friendly. After all, a menu item in WordPress can only point to a ‘Page’ (called ‘Article’ in Joomla!), a ‘Link’ (called ‘External URL’ in Joomla!) or a ‘Category’.

However, in Joomla!, a menu item can point to any one of so many different sorts of page or other item – highly extensible via 3rd party extensions.

For this reason, I am using a 3rd-party blogging component, called CJBlog, for my latest site. It has the advantage of just manipulating the built-in Joomla! ‘Articles’ system, to turn normal articles into a good blogging system, rather than re-design the whole

I particularly reference Joomla security FAQ. and Security checklist which I have studied extensively.

Yesterday was Queen’s day in Amsterdam, so I didn’t get much done. Instead, I enjoyed my date with family & friends in the Vondel park.

Nonetheless, I did manage to get some stuff done, since then and I can say that, by fiddling with the PHP core code in Joomla, I did manage to remove one of the warnings that Firefox validator gives on the front page (missing summary attribute in table) . Now, I am left with the 4 minor warnings, generated by the AllVideosReloaded module, which allows playback of the Keynote address.

AFAICS the only other warnings are generated by Google on the pages that display embedded map view and street view. I am pleased to say that W3C validation does not offer these warnings, so the entire site is actually XHTML 1.0 Transitional validated. I proudly boast the logo for this on every page along with the
